Welcome to metalyse.com.
Metalyse® is indicated for the thrombolytic treatment of
suspected myocardial infarction with persistent ST elevation or recent left bundle branch block; its use is limited to within 6 hours after the onset of symptoms of acute myocardial infarction.
Metalyse® (tenecteplase) is a thrombolytic agent designed to dissolve the occlusive blood clots (thrombi) that can form in coronary blood vessels. Such blood clots, by obstructing the flow of oxygenated blood, can cause tissue necrosis resulting in death or severe morbidity. Metalyse® breaks down clots allowing resumption of blood flow.
Single-bolus Metalyse® has a lower risk for non-intracranial major bleedings compared to front-loaded alteplase and is equivalent with respect to 30-day mortality and the combined endpoint of mortality or non-fatal stroke. This mortality benefit is consistent and not affected by age, infarct location, or history of hypertension, diabetes or previous myocardial infarction. Early thrombolysis may reduce the risk of death by up to 50%. The risk of complications due to thrombolytic therapy is very low; the risk of inducing a intracranial haemorrhage is <1%.

7th - 9th May 2010, Munich, GermanyInternational Experts Workshop 2010
Cardiologists and emergency physicians from Estonia, Germany, Latvia, Lithuania, Romania, Russia, Serbia, Turkey and Ukraine met during the Experts Workshop sponsored by Boehringer Ingelheim to discuss "Early Treatment Strategies for Acute Myocardial Infarction", This international workshop was held in Munich, Germany, and featured international opinion leaders who presented state-of-the-art STEMI treatments. During a follow-up session, the delegates assembled, by country or region, to determine how they might bring their own institutions closer to protocol-driven networks with contemporary treatments.

Management of acute myocardial infarction - Time is muscle
Aims:
- Prevent death
- Minimise patient's discomfort and distress
- Limit the extent of myocardial damage
Strategy:
- Re-establish myocardial reperfusion before irreversible damage occurs:
- mechanically (percutaneous coronary intervention)
- pharmacologically (induction of thrombolysis by fibrinolytic agent)
